Tokyo – Morocco was officially designated to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2013 and 2014, the FIFA executive committee announced on Saturday.
Morocco will become the first African country to host the annual Club World Cup of continental winners, FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced on Saturday.
The United Arab Emirates is the other country to have held the showpiece, and it was hosted by Brazil in 2000 when it was called the Club World Championship.
The FIFA Club World Cup brings together, each year in December, the champions of the six continental confederations as well as the winner of the hosting country’s championship.
The final of this year’s competition is due on Sunday between FC Barcelona and Santos.
Morocco’ s Rajae of Casablanca was the first Arab and African club to take part in the first edition of the Club World Cup, hosted by Brazil in early 2000.
