Rabat, December 12, 2011 (MAP)

The number of Ministers and Secretaries of State in the next cabinet should be between 25 and 30, announced on Monday in Rabat appointed Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane.

“Forming a small government with 20 ministers and Secretaries of State was discussed in the Party (PJD), with a view of boosting efficiency and reducing financial expenses,” recalled Benkirane, also the Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), during a meeting with Moroccan and foreign press.

However, “in reality, the assessment of available means and the goal of forming an efficient cabinet led us to opt for a government from 25 to 30 portfolios,” noted Benkirane.

“The most important thing during this crucial phase in the country’s history remains the forming of a strong and homogenous government bringing together members recognized for their honesty, competence and experience,” he added.

The PJD, the Istiqlal Party (PI), the Popular Movement party (MP) and the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS) have a “comfortable majority” in the House of Representatives, which allows them to implement their programmes according to joint and integrated approach.
