Morocco and Spain announced, on Tuesday, their decision to strengthen the joint fight against drug trafficking and set up new mechanisms to put an end to it.
In a joint statement issued in Rabat following the talks of Moroccan interior minister Mohand Laenser and his Spanish peer Jorge Fernandez Diaz, the two officials, aware of the social and criminal implications of this illegal activity, agreed to strengthen the joint fight against this phenomenon and set up new mechanisms to put an end to it, mainly by targeting trafficking that uses aircrafts, noting efforts made by Morocco to reduce lands used for drug crop cultivation.
In this regard, Laenser commended Spain’s effective response to foil operations of drug trafficking between the two shores of the straits of Gibraltar.
