Washington, March 16, 2012 (MAP)
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commended, on Thursday in Washington, the “great leadership” of Morocco at the United Nations Security Council.
“Morocco has shown great leadership at the United Nations Security Council,” the Chief U.S. diplomat said shortly before her talks at the headquarters of the Department of State with Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani, on an official visit to Washington.
The United States had been the first country to congratulate Morocco on its election, last October, as a non-permanent member of the 15-nation Council for a two-year term.
“Morocco joins the Security Council for a third term at a time when the U.N. confronts serious threats to international peace and security,” the Department of State had said on this occasion.
