The Supreme Ulema Council condemned in the strongest terms the burning of copies of the holy Quran by a US pastor.
This senseless act represents a provocation to the feelings of Muslims from around the world, the Council said in a statement.
The Council, whose Chairman is King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, noted the responsibility of custodians of religions from around the globe in ensuring the non-occurrence of such acts by distancing themselves from such crimes .
The Council also made it clear that such an irresponsible act will neither undermine the sacredness of the Holy Koran nor the attachement of Muslims to Islam’s human values, adding that the holy Quran is preserved in
which is preserved in the hearts of Muslims.
The Council stressed the need of promoting exchange between different religions and cultures and reiterated its call for combining efforts to stand against all forms of religious extremism.
