Casablanca, June 25, 2012 (MAP)

The promotion of investment and the improvement of the business environment is a major priority for Morocco, considering that the investment is undoubtedly a driving force for economic development, Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, Abdelkader Aamara, said Monday in Casablanca.

The Kingdom seeks to enhance its attractiveness by standing as a regional hub for investment, production and trade, Aamara told the second meeting of foreign economic representations in Morocco.

The minister added that incentives to productive investment, direct support to business and continuous improvement of the general business environment figure among the priorities of the government.

To this effect, he continued, Morocco has adopted ambitious sector-specific plans to stimulate growth, reposition high-potential structuring sectors and address the widening trade deficit.

The minister also pointed out that many reforms, focused primarily on strengthening the institutional, legislative and regulatory frameworks, have been launched, citing the law on arbitration and mediation, the law on commercial courts and the law on limited liability companies.
