Rabat, Oct 29, 2012 (MAP)
Moroccan airline company, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), on Monday decided to cancel all its flights to and from New York at the approach of hurricane Sandy, which is feared to strike the US east coast later Monday, RAM has announced.
The company says it will offer those passengers who have bought tickets seats in the next flights between Casablanca and New York. The decision was taken by a monitoring committee set up to watch the situation in airports and in the airspaces in collaboration with several civil and military services in Morocco, RAM added.
The company remains vigilant and its services are working to take the necessary measures in light of the development of the situation, the press release said.
On Sunday, the authorities of New York decided to evacuate thousands of people, suspend public transports and close schools as Sandy is due to strike late Monday or early Tuesday. The hurricane has already killed 59 people in the Caribbean and caused massive losses.
