Morocco World News and Maghreb Intelligence

Rabat, Nov 3, 2012

Until two years ago, Sudan was a priority issue for Western services and the Mossad. The regime of General Omar al-Bashir, in power since 1989, has always aroused the suspicion of the CIA, MI6 and Mossad. But since the outbreak of the Arab Spring, vigilance waned and the focus of these services moved elsewhere.

However, according to intelligence experts, after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi and since the possibility of Iran being hit by a US-Israeli strike, Sudan reappeared on the radar screens of the Mossad. The terrible Israeli intelligence had detected several suspicious movements from Iran, Libya and Syria towards Khartoum. It was a transfer of modern weapons, land-sea missiles and sophisticated Iranian-made missiles to Sudan.

The stocks were to be transported through Egyptian territory to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization, which is very active in the Gaza Strip. But Israel, who has very effective relays in the Republic of South Sudan, had gathered detailed information along with photos of the location where these weapons were stored

. According to informed sources in London, the Mossad was in possession of information on arms transfers to Sudan since 2010, when the commando who had murdered Hamas leader Mohamed Al Mabhouh in Dubai had found documents about Sudan’s role as a rear base for Iran, the Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself is believed to have given the head of the Israeli Air Force the direct order to bomb the Al Yarmouk factory located in the suburb of Khartoum, which is considered the main storage location of weapons from Iran.
