Rabat – In Accordance with the High Orientations of King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan diplomacy, which has set the priority of ensuring a continuous presence of the Kingdom of Morocco within the bodies of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, succeeded in having its efforts culminate in the election of the Kingdom to four UN bodies last November.
The Kingdom of Morocco was elected, during the month of November, to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the UN Committee against Torture, the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Thanks to its geographical situation, Morocco is a crossroad of cultural and commercial exchanges between East and West and between Europe and Africa, and maintains close relations with various peoples and civilizations. This richness and cultural diversity favored the classification of several Moroccan sites in the World Heritage. The latest example is the city of Rabat which was registered in 2012 on the List of the World Heritage, in the category of cultural properties.
