Casablanca In a report submitted last Monday to the UN Security Council, UN’s Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, hailed Morocco’s contribution to the stabilization of the situation in the Central African Republic.
In the report, Ben Ki-Moon expressed his gratitude towards all bilateral partners, namely the African Union, the Economic Community of Central African States, the European Union and Morocco for “their precious efforts and contributions to the stabilization of the situation in the Central African Republic.”
The UN’s Secretary General seized the opportunity to thank the Kingdom of Morocco for its “unconditional efforts in stabilizing the situation in the CAR.”
Ban Ki-Moon also casted light on the current situation in the Central African Republic and on the activities carried out by the United Nations Integrated Peace-Building Office in the CAR (BINUCA) from August 1st to December 31, 2013.
In the same report, the Secretary General made an evaluation of the BINUCA’s work results and effectiveness. Ban Ki-Moon also thanked Morocco for having agreed to send its troops to consolidate the UN’s guard unit in the CAR, and for taking the lead in reinforcing BINUCA’s Peace building process there.
Morocco’s invaluable contribution to the stability in the CAR is viewed as a manifestation of King Mohammed VI’s commitment and constant readiness to ease tensions and restore peace in conflict areas, particularly in Africa.
