Rabat  –  The opposition “Istiqlal” party has decided to sue head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane, for his remarks on capital flight, which the party considered as libelous and implying accusations against some of its leaders.

The Istiqlal party’s secretariat general announced that the party “has decided to go to justice against the head of government for his remarks during the monthly session at the parliament,” adding that the party authorized Yasmina Baddou, a former health minister and one of the party leaders, to prosecute the head of government.

The party also decided to file a request, via its two groups at the upper and lower chambers, to establish a fact-finding commission on the vaccination procurements both under the former and present governments.

It also denounced the fact the parliament session of general policy and monitoring the government’s action has been allegedly turned into a rally to make speeches and settle account, in a manner that alters and deviates the constitution’s provisions and deeply harms democratic practices and threatens the gains of democratic and political reforms in the country.

The Istiqlal party, which had withdrawn from Abdelilah Benkirane’s Islamic-led coalition government, further denounces the fact that the head of government has exceeded his constitutional powers by making accusations, an exclusive competence of the judiciary power and violating, thus, the principle of power separation.
