Chomsky: U.S. Bears Greatest Responsibility For Israeli Aggression Against Gaza

Tinjedad, Morocco- Noam Chomsky, the Jewish American linguist who has gained a reputation as one of Israel’s fiercest critics, has accorded the United States the greatest responsibility in the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza, according to Anadolu Agency.

Chomsky asserted that the U.S. contributes directly to the massacres committed against the Palestinians, through the military, political, diplomatic, and ideological support which it provides for Israel, referring to Israel’s use of the latest, most destructive U.S. arms against the Palestinian people.

Speaking to the Turkish news agency, Chomsky said that the suffering of the Palestinians has proved that there is no such thing as an “international community” since citizens in all parts of the world have waited in vain for the “international community” to do something.

The leading American philosopher and political activist added that, “The concept of the international community, is but an empty and meaningless term, a trick and illusion to ordinary people.”

Chomsky said that Turkey is the only country which has voiced strong opposition to Israel, and [made it clear through denouncing the injustices levied on the Palestinians

The same source quoted the American activist as saying “While the European Union does not care about what is happening today in Gaza, the Arab world is suffering from deep division which deprives it of the power to do anything.”

According to the World Jewish Congress, Chomsky “accused Israel of committing crimes that were ‘far worse’ than those perpetrated by the white nationalist regime in South Africa.”

With respect to the Palestinian cause, Chomsky said he does not expect any resolution from the United Nations because “the UN organization is not a strong and independent actor in the world of politics, but only a body that carries out the wishes of the most powerful countries in the world.”
