Taroudante- Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise was given a warm reception as he arrived on Saturday in a luxury car in Rabat, Morocco to shoot scenes of the fifth installment of “Mission Impossible”.
The 52-year-old actor was seen waving from the backseats of a glossy BMW, wearing a casual grey T-shirt and sunglasses.
Tom Cruise arrived in a hotel in Rabat, the Moroccan capital where he found a group of fans awaiting his arrival.
In a communiqué released on Thursday, the Moroccan National Highways Company (Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc) said that the highway bypass section of Marrakech will be closed between the junction towards the city of Agadir and the Tamansourt exchanger starting Sunday August 30 until Friday September 12, in order to leave space for the shooting of an international film.
The filming of some scenes of “Mission Impossible 5″ will take place in several Moroccan cities, namely in Rabat, Marrakech, and Casablanca. A Jewish Mellah (neighborhood) was selected to serve as the backdrop for the scenes.
Highly acclaimed by Hollywood producers, Morocco is one of the most popular film destinations and home to many successful international films, the most recent being the American film “Son of God,” produced by Roma Downey & Mark Burnett, released on February 2014.
