Marrakech – Solo Exhibition by Sébastien Preschoux, “The Reslience of the Centaur,” to premier at the David Bloch Gallery, Marrakech, September 12-October 4.

The Reslience of the Centaur is Sébastien Preschoux’s third solo exhibition at the David Bloch Gallery.

Preschoux has chosen the challenge of working on a black background, which makes rendering colors more difficult. He overcomes this by layering inks and paints so that the colors finally manage to contrast with the black background and reveal all their vibrance. This new brightness in his work has resulted in larger paintings with nuanced and contrasting colors. The forms are floating or misaligned.

Preschoux works in 2- and 3-dimensions in association with the photographer Ludovic L.E. Couster, who uses argentic cameras. This grants Preschoux freedom in terms of size and variety.

Another of his series, called “Kinolution,” illustrates his work with both preparatory and finished artworks, reflecting the evolution and research of kinetic effects. The whole exhibition is realised on paper or wood, allowing the revelation of fine traits that are essential to the sublimation of the chromatic and kinetic effect the artist is constantly researching.

“La Résilience du Centaure” (The Resilience of the Centaur) is a deeply personal and intimate exhibition of the artist’s work. Strongly influenced by the Bauhaus movement, Preschoux competes with mechanical design, producing his own equivalent.

Preschoux was selected to realize a scenographic intervention at the Quai Branly Museum in Paris as part of an exhibition “RAIN,” from March to June in 2012.
