Moroccan Fans Disappointed at Ronaldo’s Arrogance

Rabat- Moroccans fans of Real Madrid waited for months to see the stars of the Spanish club play in their country. Many were hoping to approach them and maybe even take a picture with them. With the security measures implemented by Moroccan authorities to protect the players, it was nearly impossible for many to take pictures with their favorite players.

But what was most disappointing to Moroccan fans was the arrogant attitude of Cristiano Ronaldo throughout the tournament.

The player’s arrogance has been on display since Real Madrid arrived in Rabat last Sunday. Not only did the player refuse to make any statement to the press, he did not even greet people who were waiting for the players in heavy rain at Rabat Sofitel.

This was all made worse by Ronaldo’s extreme ego and his behavior during the final match on Saturday.

Moroccan fans prepared an amazing Tifo in honor of Ronaldo. To their dismay, the player did not interact with people who spent money and time to support him with their Tifo.

However, the highlight of the entire tournament was after the match during the awards ceremony.

While all the other players greeted the people that attended the ceremony, Ronaldo initially ignored Morocco’s Prince Moulay Hassan, who presided over the tournament’s final match.

In a video that went viral on social media, Ronaldo is seen skipping over the Moroccan Prince. If the FIFA President didn’t remind Ronaldo of the presence of the young prince, the Real Madrid player would not have greeted him.

While some Moroccans tried to make excuses for Ronaldo, arguing that the player did not ignore the Prince on purpose, many expressed their utter dismay at the way he behaved himself.

To make things worse, a few seconds later, Ronaldo refused to shake hands with Michelle Platini, President of the UEFA, the European football governing body.

“I always had the illusion that Ronaldo was a great player on and off the field, but his behavior during the whole tournament and the fact that he ignored people who were greeting him, really disappoints me,” said Aissam El Hani a Fulbright scholar who has been a long fan of Real Madrid.

“A great player has to be also a humble personality, respect his fans, and be a role model for the younger generations, and from what I saw, I can say that Ronaldo is not a role model,” he added.
