Rabat – The Director of the controversial film “Much loved” Nabil Ayouch and its heroine Loubna Abidar were reportedly summoned by the king’s general prosecutor to stand before the court of first instance on July 15 in Marrakech for charges including “pornography, indecency and inciting minors to debauchery.”
According to the daily Assabah in its weekend issue, Director Nabil Ayouch and Loubna Abidar, who played the role of a prostitute in “Much Loved (Zine Li Fik),” were summoned by the court of first instance to appear at a hearing regarding the “immoral” content of the controversial movie.
The same source added that the complainants stated that the film, which chronicles the daily life of four marginalized prostitutes in the city of Marrakech, contains pornographic scenes in which the director has exploited minor girls and children.
The complainants also believe that the film gives the illusion that homosexuality, prostitution, trafficking of women, sex tourism and the exploitation of minors bring a lot of money.
Only a few days after some explicit scenes of the film had been posted on YouTube, which created a growing public outcry from Moroccan society, the government immediately banned the film on Monday, May 25th.
Mustapha El Khalfi, the Minister of Communication denounced the film asserting that “it undermines the moral values and dignity of Moroccan women, as well as all the image of Morocco.”
In addition to the charges, social media users are also talking about the possibility of charging Nabil Ayouch with filming without an official authorization from the Cinematographic Center.
