The Moroccan Organization of Tourist Transport (OMTT) has called for accelerating the modernization of Morocco’s tourist transport sector through digital transformation, fleet renewal, and skills development.

The organization said these priorities are essential to support the country’s growing tourism industry and prepare for major international events scheduled in the run-up to 2030, namely the FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The call was made during the OMTT’s Ordinary General Assembly and the National Meeting of Tourist Transport Professionals, held in Casablanca on Wednesday. The event brought together industry representatives from across the kingdom, along with stakeholders from the transport, tourism, investment, finance, and technology sectors.

Participants pointed out the increasingly strategic role of tourist transport within Morocco’s tourism value chain, noting its direct impact on visitor mobility, service quality, and the overall tourism experience. They stressed that a modern and efficient transport sector is critical to strengthening Morocco’s image as a safe, competitive, and world-class tourism destination.

Speaking at the event, Mounir Chami, OMTT’s president, argued that the gathering provided an important opportunity to strengthen dialogue among stakeholders and address the sector’s challenges through a collaborative approach.

He explained that closer cooperation between institutional and professional actors remains a key driver for improving the competitiveness of tourist transport and supporting its long-term development.

Chami added that these efforts are fully aligned with Morocco’s vision for 2030, which places tourism at the centre of national economic and social development strategies. He underlined that tourist transport plays a pivotal role in the success of this vision by facilitating travel, improving service standards, and enhancing the overall attractiveness of the Moroccan tourism offer.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector as tourism demand continues to grow. Participants acknowledged the progress achieved in recent years in infrastructure development, investment, and sector organisation, while emphasizing the need to accelerate reform and modernisation efforts.

Among the priorities identified were the expansion of digital solutions, the renewal of transport fleets, the strengthening of professional training programmes, and the establishment of a more agile and efficient regulatory framework capable of responding to evolving market needs.

Participants also maintained that strengthening the tourist transport sector has become a strategic necessity as Morocco prepares to host major international events and seeks to consolidate its position among the world’s leading tourism destinations.

The national meeting served as a platform for exchanging expertise and discussing practical solutions aimed at improving the sector’s competitiveness and reinforcing its contribution to Morocco’s tourism ecosystem.

At the conclusion of the event, the OMTT reaffirmed its commitment to representing industry professionals and supporting the development of a modern, competitive, and sustainable tourist transport sector.

The organization also pledged to strengthen dialogue with institutional partners, promote investment, support digital transformation, modernize fleets, and encourage sustainable public-private partnerships, in line with Morocco’s broader global tourism ambitions.
