Rabat – Moroccan actress Loubna Abidar claimed that she was attacked by strangers in Casablanca on Thursday.

The actress of the controversial film “Much Loved” uploaded a video on YouTube in which she appears with a laceration to her left eyebrow and claims to have been assaulted with knives by unidentified individuals in Casablanca.

Loubna claims in the video that following the attack, she went to the police department in Casablanca and private health clinics to treat her injuries, but received no assistance and was instead humiliated by them.

“I was attacked and when I went to the police they did not help me. They told me, ‘Finally, they beat you”, the actress said claimed. Abidar added that that “no doctor was willing to receive her at the clinics she visited and denied to treat her wounds.”

Loubna plays the leading role of a prostitute in Nabil Ayouch’s film “Much Loved,” which was banned in Morocco. The Moroccan actress has been target of harsh criticism for playing in the controversial film.

“All this for a movie they have not seen. All this for edited scenes shown on the Internet that are not true edits in the film,” Loubna said in the video

According to sources cited by Le360 news website, a communication crew member of the film said Loubna has been unreachable after the assault.

“She called us last night. We missed her call, but when we tried to call her back several times, she was unreachable. Her phone is off,” the crew member said.

However, a statement released by Casablanca police department on Friday said that Abidar allegations “are false.”

The police department “has no position against Abidhar or anybody else, all citizens are equal and any citizen has the right to lodge a complaint, and the duty of the police is to listen to him,” the same source said according to Alyaoum 24 website.
