The unidentified journalist said they had just crossed over the airport area into what he calls “Spanish territory” and points out how a Spanish helicopter and other Spanish officials were just “observing” the situation from the sidelines.
The journalist said that about 40,000 marchers just crossed the border separating Morocco from Spanish colonized land, with Morocco’s Prime Minister at the time, Ahmed Osman, leading the Green March.
Toward the end of the video, a United States flag is seen waving amidst thousands of Moroccan flags representing the unity of the Moroccan people and their tireless efforts in reclaiming their southern provinces.
“Tomorrow, God willing, you will pierce the border. Tomorrow, God willing, the Green March will be launched. Tomorrow, God willing, you will step on a part of your territory, touch the sand of your Sahara, and kiss the soil of your beloved nation,” the late King Hassan II said on the eve of the Green March.
One of the most peaceful and emblematic mass demonstrations in history gives the viewer chills when watched and remembered.
