StartUp Africa Summit: The Largest Gathering of African startups

New York – “StartUp Maroc” will present the first “StartUp Africa Summit” on January 21-23, 2016, in Casablanca.

The event will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, coaches, and other key players from a diverse array of primarily African startups over three days at Technopark and the Performing Arts Studio in Casablanca.

During the first two days of the Summit on January 21 and 22, selected African startups will benefit from one on one, intensive mentoring and coaching sessions and workshops taught by national and international mentors, as well as have the opportunity to network with African and international investors and other entrepreneurs.

The main event will occur on January 23 and will feature conferences and round tables led by entrepreneurs and well-known African and international investors, and a full day program led by national and international speakers. The day will highlight success stories from Moroccan and African Diaspora startups operating in America, Europe, and Asia.

The summit will close with a finale featuring the pan-African international competition “GET IN THE RING.”

“GET IN THE RING” is new contest for startups. Entrepreneurs compete in a boxing ring, through verbal debate only and no other supporting resources, to convince the jury of the merit of their business models and financial offers.

Around 20 entrepreneurs from ten African countries will participate in the competition. The two African startup winners of the pan-African finale will represent Africa at the world competition of “GET IN THE RING” scheduled for March 2016, during the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Colombia.

The “StartUp Africa Summit” was created by “StartUp Maroc,” with the sponsorship of Morocco’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy in partnership with the Ministry in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad, Migration Affairs, and the new OCP Entrepreneurship Network.

The summit’s goal is to become an annual international event for the African startup scene, to encourage and facilitate the exchange of ideas, development of issues, while providing a forum that is ideal for networking among entrepreneurs, investors, and potential partners.

The “StartUp Africa Summit” aims to bring together the African startup ecosystem, accelerate the creation of new startups, as well as showcase new startups to investors and partners worldwide.

“StartUp Maroc” is a non-profit organization whose objective is to contribute to the creation of a favorable entrepreneurial ecosystem for innovative startups supported by new generations.

Its main mission is to support and connect entrepreneurs with the resources required to develop and showcase them at a national and international level through competitions and accelerated programs in partnership with renowned international and Moroccan organizations.

Registration and entrance to “StartUp Africa Summit” on January 23 is free. For access and a list of speakers and full event schedule visit its official website at: www.startupafricasummit.org
