Moroccan Man Utilizes Rabat's Streets and Rooftops as a Gym

By Zainab Calcuttawala

Rabat – A Moroccan man from Rabat has found an unconventional place to carry out his daily fitness routine: the streets and rooftops of the capital city.

“It can look like a dangerous life to most people but, to me, these are just games that help to keep my brain active while I work out,’ Khalid Tunni  said.

The 21-year-old said he has become accustomed to training outside of the gym because he can readily find the equipment he needs in Rabat’s urban landscape instead of paying for a gym membership.

‘The streets are my gym because everything I need is there, Tunni told The Daily Mail. “Whether I’m doing handstands on top of a building, or just doing some chin ups on a bar – it’s all freely accessible.”

His choice of venue for his personal fitness regimen has caught the attention of media outlets in the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, and Peru.

Tunni clarified that although he trains for four hours in the morning and for four hours in the evening in spaces that are not traditionally used for physical training, he always makes safety a priority.

“’I have to choose what is safest and comfortable for my body as I could die if I made one wrong move,” he said. “I take smalls steps to achieve my goals and never push myself too far at one time.”
