Rabat  –  Between 25,000 and 30,000 people are expected to take part in the 22nd United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP22) scheduled in November 7-18 in Marrakech, Minister Delegate in Charge of Environment Hakima El Haite said here on Thursday.

“We expect between 25,000 and 30,000 people, including 8,000 delegates from the civil society, 1,500 journalists and members of parliaments from around the world,” she added during a meeting held by the Amadeus Institute.

COP22 is a “historic” event and “Morocco will have the historic opportunity to shine throughout the world,” she added, calling for a massive mobilization of all Moroccans to ensure the success of this event.

In this regard, the minister stressed the importance of involving MPs, private sector and civil society in COP22, saying that the conference is a “climate chance” for the African continent.
