Tunisian Ambassador to France: "We Must Stop Identifying Nice Lorry Attacker as Tunisian’’

Fez – On the wake of the terrorist attack in Nice that left 84 dead after a lorry ploughed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, Mohamed Ali Chihi, the Tunisian ambassador to France, expressed his reticence about the statement presented by the French authorities that the perpetrator of Nice’s attack is Tunisian.

In a statement given to Radio Mosaique FM, the Ambassador asserted that the result of DNA analyzes and fingerprints of the suspect have not yet been concluded, and the world must wait before accusing him.

“Even if it turns out that the author is from a French Tunisian origin, we will ask the French authorities to simply mention his French identity, because his origins are irrelevant,” he added.

Another Tunisian radio, Shems FM, reported that the French security authorities are working with the Tunisian security apparatus in order to gain information about origins of the attacker, whether he had  visited Tunisia, or  whether he‘’ had had any links with local extremist groups.”

Commenting on the attack, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump,  tweeted: ‘’Another horrific attack, this time in Nice, France. Many dead and injured. When will we learn? It is only getting worse.’’
