Rabat – The first annual Ciné –Plage Festival, a large open-air cinema festival, will take place on Sidi Abed beach in Harhoura from July 26 to 30. This cultural project aims to promote quality cinema, theater and musical in order to meet the needs of the audience.
The festival director and organizer is Abdelouahed Mjahed, the president of the Moroccan Association of Arts Without Borders (AMAF). Organizers also include Rachid El Ouali, Abdou Mesnaoui, Abdelkbir Regagna and Faiza Yahyaoui.
The event will host give movie fans and beach lovers free access to a week of Moroccan features and short films every day and evening.
A jury of cinema professionals including Touria Gibran, Ahmed Herzenni, Tewfiq Jellab, Mouna Fettou and Fatima Ifriqi determined which feature films to show, while Marmid Bilal, Rashid Zaki, Okasha Sonia, Messaoud Bouhcine and Said Bay selected the best short films.
Mr. Mjahed explained that the festival organizers chose Harhoura was not a since it is close to Rabat and Casablanca and is easily accessible from the highway.
The event will honor Rzine Mohamed, Younes Megri and Mouna Fettou, influential figures in the Moroccan cinema whose extraordinary work and talent have earned them national recognition.
