Casablanca – The Moroccan automobile industry aims to reach MAD 100 billion of exports in 2020, said Monday in Casablanca, president of the Moroccan Association for the automobile industry and trade (AMICA), Hakim Abdelmoumen.

Speaking at a conference initiated by the Moroccan economic and financial weekly “La Vie Eco” on the automobile industry in the kingdom, Abdelmoumen noted that this industry tops export sectors with MAD 50 billion in 2015.

The automobile sector is experiencing a remarkable development, which represents a favorable opportunity for Moroccan industries to find their places on the market, he said, stressing that the sector can be an engine of the national economy as it is closely linked with other industries (iron, plastic, textile, electrical wiring…).

“The Moroccan automobile industry, which posted an annual growth of 25 percent in 2015, aims to create a total of 175 000 jobs by 2020,” said AMICA president.
