Casablanca – A judge who works in the Moroccan city of Ourrzazate was arrested by the police while in the act of bribery, reported Alyaoum24.

The news website reports that the judge had ruled in favor of one side of the dispute although he had received a bribe from both, the plaintiff and the defendant.

The judge promised both, the plaintiff and the defendant, to rule in their favor, reported the news website. When he did not deliver his promise to one side of the dispute, the latter plotted a trap for the judge.

The losing side of the dispute “resorted to a member of the parliament who referred the story to Mustafa Ramid, Minister of Justice and Liberties. The Minister promised the person who fell victim of the judge that his money will be returned to him. Ramid also helped set a trap for the judge, according to the same source.

As to part of the trap, the victim got in touch with the offending judge and asked for his money back. The judge agreed, and they set his residence as the place where they would meet to hand over the bribe.

Little did the judge know that the victim was not alone. Police accompanied him to the judge’s residence and laid in wait to arrest the judge red-handed. When the judge handed the victim an amount of MAD 80,000, he was placed under arrest.

The judge is now under custody, waiting for his trial date to be announced.
