Rabat – While Morocco is preparing to host the biggest environmental gathering in the world next November, COP22, an American website, “Numbeo,” ranked Casablanca the sixth city in terms of the Global Pollution Index in mid-2016, with a level of contamination that had reached 94.81 percent.

Numbeo is a website that continuously updates on topics and rankings related to living conditions, cost of living and housing indicators, health care, traffic, and crime and pollution from around the world.

Casablanca is the only Moroccan city present in the ranking that included 211 cities from different parts of the world.

Casablanca, Morocco’s largest economic pole, came after Accra, Ghana, which topped the chart, followed by Cairo, Beirut and Kathmandu, Nepal.

This category included a total of thirty Indian cities, while the city of Trondheim, Norway was ranked the least polluted city. The first U.S. city to appear on the list is Los Angeles, California, with a rank of 87.
