Rabat – The Newly elected Secretary-General of the National Rally of Independents, Aziz Akhannouch, began a tour of Morocco on Sunday to assess the performance of his party.
Following up on a promise he made after his election to Secretary-General of RNI to reform the party, Akhannouch began a tour that will cover all regions of the kingdom. With this tour, Akhannouch is hoping to reorganize the sections and federations that have not demonstrated effectiveness.
The Moroccan billionaire will meet with party leaders and activists to better assess their needs and develop necessary strategies for the party to operate effectively on the national political stage.
During a recent visit to Madagascar, Aziz Akhannouch stated that he wants to focus on young generations in his party. According to the same source, Akhannouch went on to promise that he will establish the biggest youth organization in Morocco.
This attempt at reforming RNI comes after Akhannouch unveiled his intentions to build a strong party that is anchored in Moroccan society and carries a modernist mandate, adapted to today’s realities.
This Moroccan tour comes at a time when the appointed Head of Government, Abdelilah Benkirane, is desperate to begin a second series of deliberations aimed at forming a government coalition. Akhannouch and other party leaders have been accused of blocking Benkirane’s efforts.
