Rabat – During the opening day of the third session of the Halal Morocco Forum, held Tuesday in Casablanca, Minister of Trade, Industry, Investment and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Alami, declared that, “The benefits from export opportunities of Halal products requires joint engagement,” and “Moroccan entrepreneurs and professionals need to engage together with common goals for [underpinning] the ‘Morocco Halal’ brand.”

“Among the main strategic goals of the Moroccan Institute for Standardization is the expansion of the ‘Morocco Halal’ brand’s recognition based on global standards,” Alami added.

Alami continued his remarks, saying that the ‘Morocco Halal’ brand, which targets all food and cosmetics products, cannot be granted only through a systematic assessment carried out by a group of experts in the field of food safety.”

Over the past few years, the Halal products industry has experienced notable growth all over the world. In 2014, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce published a report in which it predicted the growth of the global Halal food and beverage market to reach 1.6 trillion dollars by 2018, up from 1.1 trillion dollars in 2013, with an annual growth rate of 6.9%.
