Rabat – The official visit of King Mohammed VI to the Republic of Ghana will give new impetus to Moroccan-Ghanaian relations, Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar.

As part of a common vision and the will of the heads of State of both countries to strengthen future-oriented South-South cooperation, this visit will establish a platform for South-South cooperation and consolidate the convergence of views on the role of Morocco and Ghana in preserving peace and security in the region, Mezouar told the press.

The agreements signed by the two countries on the occasion of this visit are numerous and diversified and will undoubtedly help to diversify the fields of partnership and set up the logistical and financial mechanisms necessary for their implementation, Mezouar said, adding that the 2nd session of the Moroccan-Ghanaian joint commission will be held this year after the first one held in Morocco in 2015.

For the minister, Ghana, a model country committed to the causes of the continent, has strongly supported and played an important role in the return of Morocco to the African Union (AU).

Moroccan ministers held, Friday at the presidential palace in Accra, bilateral meetings with their Ghanaian peers to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in several areas of common interest.

These ministerial meetings were held before the signing ceremony of 25 cooperation agreements between Morocco and Ghana, under the presidency of the King and Ghanaian Head of State Nana Akufo-Addo.
