Casablanca – The prosecution confirmed, on Wednesday in Casablanca, the charges brought against the defendants in the case of the collapse of a building last August in the Sbata neighborhood, which claimed the lives of 4 people.
The public prosecutor said, following the 5-hour hearing, that the charges of manslaughter, corruption and construction of a building not in conformity with the issued authorization were established against the 8 defendants sued while in custody, including the building’s owner, a technician from the urban district and an architect.
The prosecution said that the building’s owner used its relation with one of the civil servants sued in the same case and paid him to get the authorization for illegally constructing four-storied building on a fragile ground dating back to the 60s.
The district court at the Ain Sbaa first instance court decided to postpone the verdict until February 22, to question all involved suspects.
