Marrakech – Argentina’s Esteban Guerrieri won here on Sunday the opening race of the WTCC 2017 season, while Moroccan Mehdi Bennani ranked third.

Swedish Thed Björk ended second.

Speaking at a press conference following the race, Mehdi Bennani said he was pleased with his performance which is a good start for the 2017 season, reiterating his determination to do better in the next races.

In his turn, Argentinean driver Esteban Guerrieri told reporters that he did not expect such a victory, especially after an unfavorable start.

The 8th edition of the Marrakech WTCC 2017 Grand Prize, which took place on April 7 – 9, marks the start of the WTCC 2017 season, which includes 9 other rounds (Italy, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, China, Japan, Macau and Qatar).
