Rabat –  A partnership agreement for the preservation of the Moroccan heritage was signed between the Ministry of Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy and the National Museum Foundation (FNM) on Tuesday in Rabat.

The agreement, signed by Fatima Marouane and FNM President Mehdi Qotbi, reflects the interest of both parties in establishing a lasting and fruitful partnership for the preservation and promotion of Moroccan handicrafts, including the traditional Moroccan carpet.

Both partners explained that they are committed to the restoration and preservation of cultural handicrafts.

“The Ministry is committed to integrating handicrafts training into the curricula of its training centers,” explained Marouane in a statement to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).

“This agreement reflects the desire of the ministry and the FNM to work together for the preservation and restoration of the invaluable handicrafts exhibited in the museums,” added Marouane.

This agreement is part of the initiative to “advance the cause of museums.” It reflects the willingness of the Ministry and the Foundation to combine their efforts and knowledge to promote Moroccan handicrafts, explained Qotbi to the same source.

The FNM is set to work with the Ministry to promote Moroccan heritage and crafts, particularly the traditional carpet, added Qotbi.

He noted that a carpet museum will be set up in Marrakech by the Foundation, with the aim of promoting this secular art and paying tribute to the Moroccan artisans.
