Rabat – Former head of government and Justice and Development Party (PJD) leader, Abdelilah Benkirane, has resigned from his role as a member of parliament.Â
The news was announced today by the party’s website PJD.ma.
The website said that Benkirane did what he had to do several months ago when he was appointed by the King Mohamed VI as head of government as he could not assume both positions.
Benkirane was elected in last general elections as a member of parliament, winning his seat in his electoral bastion in Salé where he enjoyed a crushing victory over his rivals.
