Join on Telegram Rabat – A YouTube video has emerged on social media showing a young, drunken reveler in his Ferrari, is sparking acute outrage among Moroccans, leading the DGSN to open an investigation.
In the nearly 90-second video, the man appears simultaneously driving and drinking from a bottle of champagne.
He also appears laughing and cursing. The same video shows the carousing young man filming a selfie video near the police and in front of his car. The young man was also mocking the police officer.
The car itself appears battered and crushed after he collided with three cars that had been parked at a traffic light in the city of Rabat, according to the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
DGSN Reacts
Following the incident, the DGSN issued a communiqué on Tuesday, providing more information about the incident. It announced that it “temporarily suspended a police inspector, following his abuse and malfunction, while he was conducting an investigation of a traffic accident occurred on Monday morning in one of the streets of Rabat.”
“[We] are awaiting the end of the judicial investigation after it was appeared that he did not abide by the professional procedures of the function that it was entrusted to him,” the DGSN added.
The incident caused material damage, according to the DGSN, which announced that an investigation has been initiated under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The DGSN stated that the investigation will include all parties that were involved in this incident. Security elements have also started procedures for their inspection of the incident.
