Rabat – The city of Meknes will host the fourth edition of Sidi Abderrahmane El Majdoub Festival for “Word and Wisdom” June 6 to 10, at the Mohammed Menouni and Michael Joubert cultural centers as well as Lahdim square.

The five-day event aims to showcase Moroccan Zajal (a popular traditional form of Moroccan Arabic poetry) as an important cultural legacy and heritage of the country.

“The event is designed to give value to the Moroccan heritage and to provide attendees with positive images of iconic Moroccan figures away from stereotypes and superstitions,” said Mohammed El Medaghri, Director of Abderrahmane El Majdoub Festival.

The event will hold a variety of seminars and artistic activities, including concerts of Andalusian and Aissaoua music.

The festival will be organized by Meknes’ Association for Culture and Development, the Fez Meknes Council, the Meknes-Tafilalet Regional Directorate of Culture and the French Institute of Meknes.
