Rabat – In a Youtube video Fahad Al-Masri called on King Mohammed VI to help the Syrian refugees stuck on the Moroccan-Algerian border.
Uploaded on May 27, the video features the chairman of the National Salvation Front in Syria asking Morocco’s King “on the occasion of the month of Ramadan” to come to the help of the Syrian refugees who have been stranded on the Moroccan-Algerian border for over 40 days.
Opposition leader Al-Masri pleaded for the refugees to enter Moroccan soil with the aim of being transferred to a camp in Jordan or Turkey.
“Your Majesty, King of the poor and the oppressed, we have seen with humanitarian NGOs that the situation of Syrian refugees is most deplorable on the Algerian border. So that this situation is not used to attain political ends, we suggest a solution to you to solve their situation.”
Based in Brussels, Al-Masri added, “the Syrian people will never forget the courageous positions of your people and your Majesty regarding the Syrian cause. The Syrian people will not forget how Moroccan people welcomed the Syrian citizens amongst theirs.”
