Rabat – Police at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport arrested a Bulgarian traveler in possession of 7,750 kg of cocaine on Saturday, May 20.
The 29-year-old smuggler was in transit from Sao Paolo, Brazil, to Beirut, Lebanon. He was arrested after the control operation found a carefully concealed bag of cocaine in his luggage, explained the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) in a statement.
The accused was placed in custody while an investigation was conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, pending his trial, the same source added.
This operation was carried out as part of the efforts made by Moroccan security services to combat cross-border crimes, particularly international drug trafficking.
