Rabat – King Mohammed VI has received an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to attend 2017’s Arab Islamic-American Summit, which is scheduled to take place on May 21 in Riyadh.
American President Donald Trump is also expected to attend the summit.
On Monday, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita met with Adel al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia at the Department of Foreign Affairs Ministry in Rabat.
In a press conference following the meeting, the two ministers stated that they had discussed several issues linked to Morocco-Saudi relations, looking to strengthen and promote relations between the two countries.
Al-Jubier and Bourita also agreed to tackle several prominent challenges currently faced byArab countries.
Bourita also said that Morocco supports all the moves taken by the Saudi King.
On May 8, Saudi Arabia has started inviting Arab leaders to atAtend the summit. To date, it has invited Iraqi president Fuad Masum and Tunisian president, Beji Caid Essebsi to represent their countries at the summit.
A senior administration of the White House confirmed on Thursday that Trump’s first trip abroad as a president will include Saudi Arabia, Vatican and Israel.
Stopping first in Saudi Arabia, he will meet with Arab leaders with a view to build a new anti-terrorism coalition.D
Prince Khaled Bin Salman was appointed as the new Saudi ambassador to the US on April 22.
