Rabat – The Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water announced on May 3 the launch of a new SMS service, allowing offenders of the Moroccan traffic code to receive notifications of their offenses recorded by fixed radars.

The new features aims to increase the number of traffic offenses reported by fixed speed cameras as a means of improving road safety and allow citizens to benefit from the reduced fines stipulated in the latest amendments to the Highway Code, explained the ministry in a communiqué.

The ministry launched the free SMS service to enhance the features of its mobile app, Road Traffic Offenses. The app allows users to know their balance points and to be alerted by cell phone of their offenses.

The application also informs offenders of the type of their offense and whether it is to be amended by paying a fine or withdrawal of points. It also specifies the number of points to be withdrawn according to the type of crime, the penalties incurred, the amount of the fine to be paid, and the method of payment.

This application, can be downloaded free on Google Play and Apple Store in Arabic and French.

Since its launch in April 2016, Road Traffic Offenses has been downloaded more than 340,000, with an average of 15,000 visits per day.
