Ooredoo Group Brings People Together During Ramadan

Rabat – Qatar-based, Ooredoo Group, is helping Muslims connect during Ramadan, offering their customers new ways to enhance their holy month communications.

The digital revolution has made the use of mobile communication essential to daily life, no more so than during the month of Ramadan. Ooredoo has launched a downloadable mobile keyboard, featuring Ramadan-themed emoticons, stickers and icons, intended to enrich their communications with friends and family.

For the first time in Qatar, Ooredoo has also signed an agreement with Snapchat which will enable customers to share their day-to-day Ramadan experiences via a special Snapchat filter.

The effort appears to be paying off for Ooredoo. Views of their YouTube video have reached 12.6 million and more that 32,000 digital keyboards have been downloaded. The company’s reach has totalled 12 million people on Facebook, 3.5 million on Instagram and 760,000 on Twitter.

The international communications company, which operates in the Middle East, North America and Southeast Asia, also launched a television campaign advertising the Ramadan keyboard. Featuring performers from Qatar, Kuwait and Oman, the ad shows people connecting easily and happily across the region.

Ooredoo’s CEO, Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al-Thani, described the company’s strategy behind the launch:

“Ooredoo enables people to enjoy the internet through the power of our network and the versatility of our content. It seems very fitting that the whole Ooredoo family has come together to create a unique campaign that celebrates the ancient and traditional values of the Holy Month using the most modern and innovative social media technologies. We hope that our campaign helps customers across our footprint to share the joy of Ramadan, and enjoy the internet at this special time.”
