Rabat – Following a bitter defeat at the Champions League final game against Spanish rival Real Madrid, Juventus’ goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has criticized Italian football fans who celebrated the loss.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid and Juventus faced each other at the Champions League final. After Real Madrid’s 4-1 win, fans of other Italian clubs celebrated the loss of the Old Lady.
“In football there are triumphs and defeats. I remain convinced that you learn much [more] from a loss than a success,” Buffon told Rai Sport.
He added that he struggled to accept the attitude of those who have celebrated his team’s loss, saying that he is proud not to be like them.
“I am honestly proud to be nothing like those who celebrated after the final in Cardiff.”
The Italiano has also expressed his disappointment towards the game’s result, saying that he had expected too much from a team with so many experiences of finals.
“There was too much optimism going into a match where even the stupidest Real Madrid footballer had many trophies and appearances in big finals than me.”
