Rabat – Spanish company Balearia will open a new ferry route between Nador and Almeria on June 20.
The four-hour journey will be made on the Nissos Chios ferry, which has the capacity for 1,200 passengers and 350 vehicles and can travel at 28 knots.
There will be two services a day from each port, except on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when there will be only one round trip.
The route between Nador and Almeria is the company’s fourth international line, and the company’s third in North Africa.
Balearia’s president, Adolofo Utor, said that the opening of this new line aids the company’s “internalisation process,” which started in 2003 with the opening of links between Algeciras and Tangier.
Utor added that the aim of the new Nador-Almeria route is to “serve the citizens of Morocco and its visitors, and contribute to the economic and social development of the region.”
