Rabat – The flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Morocco amounted to MAD 7.8 billion during the first four months of 2017. This is compared with 7.4 billion a year earlier, marking an increase of 4.5 % according to the Foreign Exchange Office in a note on the preliminary indicators of foreign trade of April 2017.

The flow of direct investment from Moroccans living abroad amounted to MAD 6.7 billion, compared to 1.2 billion at the end of April 2016. This has resulted in an increase of MAD 5.47 billion, noted the Office.

The increase is mainly due to a MAD 5.767 Billion growth in direct foreign investment from Moroccans living abroad, which was offset slightly by an increase in the direct sales of Moroccan direct investment abroad, which amounted to MAD 294 million.

As for the remittances of Moroccans living abroad (MRE), they fell by 3.2 percent, from MAD 19.1 billion to 18.5 billion in the first 4 months of 2017, the same source added.
