Rabat- The Moroccan government is in the final steps of launching a new national identification card, which will replace the current identification number that is based on birthplace or place of residence.
The government will replace the current identification card system by a new one consisting of ten digits instead of eight.
The executive stated that the change is due to the fact that the current number is no longer sufficient to recognize citizens due the growth of population.
This will allow the expansion of the identification information for each citizen, in order to recognize the status of retirement health insurance and the beneficiaries of social programs.
