Rabat – Real Madrid’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is expected to make an official statement regarding his future in the Bernabeu within the next week, reported British newspaper, the Mirror.

With heavy speculations linking the footballer to a move to his former British football club, Manchester United, Real Madrid is expecting its key forward to make an official statement regarding his future.

On June 14, Ronaldo joined the list of Spanish-based footballers facing charges of tax fraud in Spain.

The Portuguese footballer is accused of four crimes against Spain’s public treasury between 2011-2014, including a tax fraud of USD 65.5 million.

Currently ranked as the world’s highest paid athlete, the 32-year-old player has been accused of funneling money to offshore companies located in the Virgin Islands and Ireland, countries known for their low corporate tax rates.

His club, however, showed complete confidence after prosecutors in Madrid filed the complaints against him.

Following the Spanish authorities’ accusation, numerous international media platforms, including Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola, reported that the 32-year old player is upset and does not want to stay in Spain, adding that he may also leave Real Madrid this summer. Ronaldo’s release clause from his current team has reached EUR 1 billion.

Away from the tax fraud complaints filed against him, the footballer welcomed the birth of his twins in June, and has since posted a picture of himself with them on his social media.

So happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life ??

Ronaldo is already the father of a seven-year old boy, Cristiano Ronaldo JR.

The player led Real Madrid to win both Spanish and European competition titles, namely La Liga and Champions League.
