Rabat – Passenger traffic at the Fes-Sais airport increased by 17.73 percent in the first seven months of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016.
A total of 585,156 passengers traveled through Fes-Sais airport between January and July of the current year, compared with 497,044 passengers during the same period of the previous year, according to data from the National Airports Office (ONDA).
The Fes-Sais airport occupied the fifth position after Casablanca-Mohammed V, Marrakech-Menara, Agadir-Al Massira and Ibn Batouta International Airport of Tangier.
In 2016, a total of 892,974 passengers passed through the Fez-Sais airport, compared with 886,525 passengers during the year 2015, an increase of 0.73percent.
The new airport terminal at Fez-Sais, which is a platform for several low-cost airlines, including Ryanair, Easy Jet, Jet Air Fly, and Air Arabia,has helped increase the airport’s capacity from 500,000 to 2.5 million passengers.
At the national level, air traffic increased by 11.49 percent in the first seven months of 2017. The number of passengers passing through all of the kingdom’s airports increased by more than 10,056 million during the first seven months of 2016 to 11.212 million at the end of July.
In July alone, a total of 108,911 passengers traveled through the Fes-Sais airport against 82,454 passengers during the same period of the previous year, an increase of 32.09 percent.
