Rabat – Despite the general lethargy of the summer season, the automotive market is making progress. In August alone, car sales registered an impressive 18.81 percent increase with units 13,447 sold.

The passenger cars segment scored a notable increase of 4.11 percent, as sales reached 104,624 units during the last eight months of 2017.

Dacia is still leading the ranking as the best-selling brand in the Moroccan market at a 14.40 percent increase with 31,622 sold units, followed by Renault which marked a significant progress this year compared to its immediate pursuers.

The French company sold 13,843 units during 2017, registering a 31.1 percent growth rate. In third position comes Ford, loyal to its usual ranking with a volume of 8,495 units, and a decrease of 14.93 percent.

Light-duty vehicles maintained their favorable progress, scoring an 25.35 percent growth with 8,654 sold unit. Ford heads the segment with 1,567 sold units and a 29.5 percent progress.

The Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat comes in second position with a volume of 1,367 units and net growth of 24.84 percent, followed by Renault with 1,153 sold units and an impressive jump of 46.32 percent.

As for the luxury car segment, Mercedes maintains its course with 1,998 sold units, marking a 8.82 percent growth rate, followed by BMW with a 1,791-unit volume and a 2.08 percent loss. The German manufacturer Audi comes in third, with a 12.06 percent progress at 1,542 sold units.
