‘Aquaman’ Superhero Film to Be Shot in Southern Moroccan Desert

Rabat – An American superhero film starring Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, and Nicole Kidman will be shot in the Moroccan desert, said the Moroccan Cinema Center.

Directed by James Wan, scenes from “Aahb” will be filmed in the cities of Erfoud, Marrakech, Ouarzazat, and Merzouga, starting October 9. The film’s plot will tell the story of Aquaman, the king of the seven seas, a DC comics superhero who until now has never had his own movie.

In the upcoming film, the ruler of the undersea empire of Atlantis finds himself in the middle of a conflict a conflict between environmentally-destructive surface dwellers and rebellious Atlanteans.

The movie is scheduled to be released in December 2018.

“Aquaman” is being produced by Peter Safran in collaboration with Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Rob Cowan, Jon Berg, and Geoff Johns.

Morocco has been the filming location of many international movies and television shows, including “Game of Thrones” and “Gladiator,” filmed in Ouarzazate.
