Rabat – Morocco has extradited Michael Steven, the CEO of Kresna Life, to Indonesia after his arrest due to alleged links to money laundering and embezzlement of insurance customers’ funds.

CNN Indonesia said Steven returned to Indonesia after his arrest in Morocco in March following an Interpol arrest warrant.

Morocco approved Steven’s extradition on June 12. He was handed over by Morocco to Indonesia’s police on June 20, when he was brought back to his country.

Brigadier General Untung Widyatomoko said in a statement quoted by CNN that police remain “committed to pursuing and bringing back fugitives who flee abroad so they can be held accountable for their actions before the law.”

Steven is not the only suspect in the case.

CNN said he is one of the five suspects that the Directorate Special Economic Crimes is now handling to determine the circumstances behind investing premiums from Kresna Link Investa and Protecto Investa Kresna insurance products into affiliated stocks or securities beyond the limits set by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority.

IDN Times said Steven was named a suspect on September 13, 2023, “on allegations of capital market crimes, fraud, embezzlement and money laundering.”

The news outlet also revealed a video showing the suspect being handed over to Interpol.
